Barnes hits game-winner, H.Ramirez gets four hits

The GCL Pirates got rained out, but everybody else was in action on Thursday.

-- Indianapolis lost to Louisville in walkoff fashion, 3-2, when Tim Alderson gave up a bases loaded single with no outs in the bottom of the 9th. The loss wasted a strong effort by Kris Johnson, who threw seven shutout innings, allowing four hits and a walk, while fanning three. Erik Cordier, whose 100 mph velocity isn't proving very effective, came on with a 2-0 lead in the 8th and gave up two runs to tie it. The Indians had only four hits, half of them by Andrew Lambo, who also accounted for both runs with his 8th AAA HR. Everybody else played Inge For a Day.

-- Altoona shut out Akron, 7-0. Eliecer Navarro threw the first six innings, allowing five hits and no walks, and striking out one. Alex Dickerson went 2-4 with his tenth HR. Andy Vasquez, Justin Howard and Mel Rojas, Jr., also had two hits apiece, and Drew Maggi went 3-4.

-- Bradenton got one-hit in a 5-0 loss to Palm Beach. Stetson Allie had the only hit, as he went 1-2 with a walk. Alen Hanson went 0-2 with two walks. The Marauders were facing Zach Petrick, a non-drafted free agent signed by the Cardinals last year who now has an ERA of 0.27. Zack Dodson gave up five runs on six hits and four walks in four and a third innings.

-- West Virginia took two games from Kannapolis. The Power won the completion of yesterday's suspended game, 4-0. Clay Holmes took over when play resumed to start the 4th inning and had probably his best "start" of the year. He gave up only two hits and two walks in five innings, while striking out four. Josh Bell, Walker Gourley and Raul Fortunato all went 2-4, and Gourley and Bell had doubles. Dilson Herrera went 0-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.

The Power also won the regularly scheduled game, 4-3, when Barrett Barnes (pictured) hit his fourth HR with two on base in the top of the 9th. Jonathan Schwind went 3-3 with a double. Thomas Harlan, a reliever making a spot start, gave up just two unearned runs in four innings, while fanning five.

-- Jamestown stayed hot, raising its record to 16-8 with a 5-2 win over Hudson Valley. Chad Kuhl threw four shutout innings and Justin Topa added three more. Harold Ramirez went 4-5, raising his average to .322, and Jeff Roy went 3-4. Adam Frazier went 2-3 with a double -- his first extra base hit -- and a walk. He's now hitting 407/553/444, with eight walks and just two strikeouts.

-- The DSL Pirates1 lost to the Marlins, 4-2. Tito Polo went 2-4 with a triple. Starter Miguel Ferreras gave up just an unearned run in five innings on two hits and no walks, with four strikeouts.

-- The DSL Pirates2 scored four in the top of the 9th to beat the Mets1, 4-2. Michael De La Cruz went 2-3 with a double and two walks. Mets1 pitchers walked ten and struck out fifteen. Bucs starter Eduardo Vera gave up just two unearned runs over five innings on four hits and no walks. He fanned six.
