Indianapolis remains off for the AAA All-Star game, in which Tony Sanchez hit a three-run HR his first time up. Everybody else was in action.
-- Altoona shut out Bowie, 2-0. A rehabbing Jared Hughes pitched the first two innings, allowing one hit and fanning four. Nick Kingham went the next six and a third, giving up six hits and three walks, and striking out four. Nate Baker got the last two outs. Alex Dickerson kept hitting, going 2-4 with his twelfth HR. Justin Howard went 2-3 and is now hitting .329 with a .436 OBP, although with little power. Gregory Polanco went 0-3 and has dropped to .266.
-- Bradenton stopped its nine game losing streak, hammering Clearwater, 9-3. Alen Hanson broke out of a slump, going 3-4. Willy Garcia had a three-run HR, his 14th, and a sacrifice fly for four RBIs. Benji Gonzalez and Dan Gamache each had two hits. Stetson Allie went 1-3 with two walks. Zack Dodson allowed three runs over six innings, on five hits and two walks. He struck out four.
-- West Virginia stomped Savannah, 8-1. Tyler Glasnow struggled a little with his control early, but lasted five innings, allowing one run. He gave up five hits and three walks, and fanned six. Ryan Hafner followed with two scoreless innings, giving up a hit and two walks, and striking out one. Barrett Barnes went 3-5 with a double, Eric Wood 2-5 with a double, and Jonathan Schwind 3-4. Dilson Herrera went 1-4 with a walk and Josh Bell 1-2 before leaving for pinch-hitter Luis Urena. In his first game above the GCL, Urena went 0-2 with one strikeout.
-- Jamestown's 9th inning rally fell short and the Jammers lost to Connecticut, 3-2. The game ended when Danny Collins lined out with runners on first and third. Chad Kuhl gave up his first pro runs, allowing three, two earned, in five innings. He allowed six hits and no walks, and fanned six. Axel Diaz struck out four in two innings of relief. Six different Jamestown players had one single apiece.
-- The GCL Pirates beat the Yankees2, 4-1. Jonathan Sandfort had a strong start, throwing five shutout innings, giving up four hits and no walks, and striking out six. Ulises Montilla (pictured) went 3-5, Austin Meadows 1-3 with a triple and a walk, Reese McGuire 1-3, Trae Arbet 1-4, and Nick Buckner 0-4.
-- The DSL Pirates1 blew a one-run lead in the 9th, but beat the Yankees2 in ten, 8-5. Luis Benitez went 2-4 with a double and three RBIs and Julio De La Cruz hit his third HR. Rudy Guzman also went 2-4.
