Bradenton was rained out on Thursday.
-- Andy Oliver had a miserable outing and Indianapolis lost to Gwinnett, 10-3. Oliver gave up nine runs in an inning and two-thirds on five hits and five walks. He fanned two and threw half his 64 pitches for strikes. I think it's safe to say he's not going to be a rotation depth option. Zack Thornton followed Oliver and retired all seven hitters he faced, fanning three. Duke Welker gave up the only other run in his one inning. Russ Canzler went 2-4 with a double and a triple, while Matt Hague hit his seventh HR. Andrew Lambo went 1-4 with a triple.
-- Altoona beat Erie, 6-3. Jameson Taillon scuffled early, but finished strongly, giving up three runs in seven innings. He allowed five hits and two walks, and fanned seven. Jhonathan Ramos followed Taillon but didn't pitch to any hitters, so presumably he was hurt. Andy Vasquez, Adalberto Santos and Jarek Cunningham all went 2-4, and Vasquez hit his third HR. Gregory Polanco went 1-3 and Alex Dickerson 1-4. The Curve got all their runs off Erie starter Patrick Cooper, who's having a terrible year.
-- West Virginia beat Savannah, 5-3. Clay Holmes gave up three runs in four innings, on six hits and two walks. He struck out four. Jhondaniel Medina struck out the side in the 9th for the save. Walker Gourley went 3-4 and Dilson Herrera 2-4 with a double. Josh Bell went 1-3 with a double and a walk.
-- Jamestown walloped Connecticut, 10-0. Jeff Roy went 3-4, and Michael Fransoso and Jimmy Rider each 2-3. Adam Frazier and JaCoby Jones each went 1-3. Jackson Lodge (pictured) threw six shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks, and striking out three.
-- The GCL Pirates lost to the Yankees2, 7-0. Starter Adrian Grullon gave up three runs on six hits and a walk in two innings, with one strikeout. Reese McGuire went 2-4 and Austin Meadows 0-4.
-- The DSL Pirates1 shut out the Mets2, 5-0. Relievers Jesus Perez and Marcus Beltrez each threw two hitless innings, fanning five altogether. Julio De La Cruz, one of the Pirates' two most prominent international signings, went 1-4 with his fourth HR.
No results were available for the DSL Pirates2.
