A.J. Burnett's simulated game went without incident. He will be re-evaluated this afternoon. There are no details available about when he might make his next start. (Burnett is currently participating in infield drills. He is fielding balls hit back to the mound, charging bunt attempts and running the cover first play.)

James McDonald met with Dr. Meister in Dallas, TX, yesterday. "Dr. Meister agreed with the diagnosis of the Pirates’ doctors. The next step in McDonald’s rehabilitation is TBA."

Wandy Rodriguez has received his PRP injection. He will now rest and continue to receive treatment.

Kyle McPherson is set to meet with Dr. Andrews late next week.

There is no change to Jeff Karstens' status. He continues his rehabilitation program.

Jared Hughes threw a 35 pitch bullpen yesterday without incident. He is scheduled to fly to Florida on Thursday to continue his return to pitch progression.

Phil Irwin had ulnar nerve transposition surgery on his right elbow at Allegheny General Hospital this morning. He is expected to be out for approximately two months.
