Jim Bowden reports that the Bucs don't want to pay the White Sox's price for Alex Rios, so unless something crazy happens, Chicago appears unlikely to move Rios before the deadline. It's not surprising that the Pirates wouldn't want to pay a lot for Rios, obviously, so that's fine.
A couple of new names have emerged for the Pirates -- Marlon Byrd, Jeff Samardzija -- but nothing that seems to have much smoke behind it. My guess is that we'll see a small deal or two right before the deadline, but that's probably it. I'm still guessing Nate Schierholtz winds up with the Bucs. It's a good match, and the Cubs shouldn't be deluded about his value, as I suspect the White Sox are with Rios.
