Michael McKenry to have knee surgery, out for season

Michael McKenry will have knee surgery, Travis Sawchik tweets. We don't know any details, but it sounds like he'll be out for awhile, so Tony Sanchez is your backup catcher.

For anyone wondering about the trade deadline, deals can take up to a half hour after the deadline to break (as, for example, the Matt Morris trade did in 2007). It doesn't look like the Pirates did anything, but I'd wait until 4:30 or so to decide that for sure.

UPDATE: McKenry has a torn meniscus and is out for the season.
