Taillon makes strong return, Lambo goes deep

Wednesday's action:

-- Indianapolis beat Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 3-1. Graham Godfrey threw six scoreless innings. Ryan Reid struggled for the second straight game, retiring only one of the five batters he faced in the 9th, but Duke Welker came on with the bases loaded and recorded the last two outs on a double play. Lucas May drove in two runs with his second HR and Andrew Lambo drove in the other with his 14th AAA HR.

-- Altoona rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 8th to beat Binghamton, 3-2. Jameson Taillon (pictured) returned to the mound after missing some time with a sore neck and threw five innings, allowing one run on four hits and no walks. He fanned six and threw 53 of 73 pitches for strikes. Gregory Polanco went 2-3 with a walk and Alen Hanson went 1-4 with two strikeouts. Hanson's hit was his first in AA.

-- Bradenton beat Dunedin, 5-2. Joely Rodriguez struggled in the 1st, allowing both the runs, but he threw four shutout innings after that. Overall, he allowed six hits and two walks, while fanning five. Stetson Allie went 1-4.

-- West Virginia rallied for four runs in the bottom of the 9th to beat Delmarva, 4-3. Chris Diaz hit a one-out, bases loaded single to drive in the tying and winning runs. Eric Wood and Raul Fortunato each had two hits. Josh Bell went 1-2 with a double and a walk, and Dilson Herrera went 0-4.

-- Heavy hitting Jamestown got shut out by Staten Island on four hits, losing 6-0. Dovydas Neverauskas and Henry Hirsch each threw three shutout innings. Hirsch retired all nine batters he faced, four on strikeouts. Andy Otamendi struck out five in two innings, but gave up four runs. Adam Frazier and Dave Valesente each had two hits.

-- The GCL Pirates got destroyed by the Astros, 18-6, in a game shortened by rain to five innings. Jonathan Sandfort allowed four runs, two earned, in two innings. Relievers Mervin Del Rosario and Luis Campos managed to allow 14 runs, all earned, in two and two-thirds innings before the game was called. Reese McGuire went 0-3 and Austin Meadows didn't play. Nick Buckner and Adam Landecker each had a two-run triple.

-- The DSL Pirates1 beat the Angels, 5-4. Rodney Polonia went 3-3.

-- The DSL Pirates2 lost two games to the Yankees1. The Bucs lost the continuation of a suspended game, 6-4. Alexis Bastardo, Fredis Padilla and Stephen De La Mota each had two hits. Michael De La Cruz went 1-4 with a walk.

The Pirates2 lost the second game, 4-2. De La Cruz went 1-3 with a walk and Yomifer Polanco went 2-3.
