Saturday's action:
-- Jameson Taillon had a shaky start as Indianapolis lost to Toledo, 5-4, in ten innings.. Taillon struggled with his control early, but recovered enough to last seven innings. He gave up four runs on six hits and four walks, while striking out eight. Taillon threw 57 of 98 pitches for strikes. Ryan Reid followed with two scoreless innings. Andy Oliver came on for the bottom of the 10th and retired the first two hitters, but then allowed a walk and a game-winning double. Robert Andino and Felix Pie each had two hits.
-- Altoona beat Harrisburg, 5-4. Gregory Polanco (pictured) went 2-3 with two doubles and a walk. Alen Hanson went 1-3 with a walk, Jarek Cunningham went 2-4, and Justin Howard hit his fifth HR. Alex Dickerson did not play for the third straight day, although he's not on the DL.
-- Bradenton beat Charlotte, 8-5. Joely Rodriguez gave up ten hits in five innings -- Charlotte is second in the FSL in batting, far ahead of the #3 team -- but he held the damage to three runs. Dan Gamache, Elias Diaz and Junior Sosa all had two hits. Willy Garcia had a three-run HR, his 15th. Stetson Allie went 0-1 with four walks.
-- West Virginia got six shutout innings from Clay Holmes and beat Lakewood for the 20th time this year, 5-2. Holmes allowed seven hits and no walks, and fanned two. Josh Bell hit his tenth HR, only his second since June 4 and his only hit in five ABs. Eric Wood had a single and a double, and Walker Gourley had two doubles. Dilson Herrera went 1-5 with a double.
-- Jamestown scored the winning run in the top of the 9th with the help of an error and a balk, and beat Tri-City, 3-2. Jin-De Jhang and Edwin Espinal each went 2-4. Henry Hirsch and Brett McKinney combined for four and a third scoreless innings in relief, with six strikeouts.
-- Austin Meadows went 3-4 with his third HR as the GCL Pirates beat the Yankees1, 5-2. Wyatt Mathisen went 2-2 with two walks and Nick Buckner hit a two-run triple. Reese McGuire went 0-4 and threw out the only runner who tried to steal on him. Neil Kozikowski continued to pitch well, throwing four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks. He struck out one.
-- The DSL Pirates1 lost to the Rangers in ten innings, 5-4. Pablo Reyes went 3-5, and Luis Benitez and Johan De Jesus each had two hits.
-- The DSL Pirates2 beat the Nationals, 3-1. Michael De La Cruz went 1-5. Jose Batista and Horelbin Ramos each threw four innings, with Batista allowing a run and three hits, and Ramos no runs and one hit.
