Bradenton was rained out, and a couple other affiliates could have used some rain after the 8th inning.
-- Indianapolis beat Rochester, 6-1. Jameson Taillon could have been more efficient, but he allowed just one run and four hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out three, and threw 65 of 105 pitches for strikes. Duke Welker got the last five outs, giving up one hit and striking out three. Andrew Lambo celebrated Felix Pie's promotion with his 18th AAA HR, although he also fanned three times. Matt Hague went 3-5 with a double, and Alex Presley and Robert Andino each went 2-5. Travis Snider opened his AAA rehab by going 1-4.
-- A four-run 9th inning rally fell short and Altoona lost to Richmond, 9-7. Alen Hanson went 3-5 with a triple, Jarek Cunningham 2-4 with a double, and Mel Rojas, Jr., 2-4. Gregory Polanco went 0-2 with a walk. Alex Dickerson went 0-2 with two walks and is hitting .211 in August.
-- Tyler Glasnow (pictured) allowed no hits and fanned 13 in five shutout innings against Charleston, which is a roughly average-hitting SAL team. If you do the math, that means only two balls were put in play, since there were no errors. Glasnow walked five and hit one, but he threw 60 of 98 pitches for strikes, so he wasn't that wild. Glasnow left with a 4-0 lead, but Thomas Harlan gave up three runs in the 8th, and Bryton Trepagnier and Lance Breedlove gave up two more in the bottom of the 9th without recording an out, leaving the Power with a 5-4 loss. Dilson Herrera had two doubles in four ABs, Raul Fortunato went 3-4 with a double, and Chris Diaz went 2-2. Josh Bell went 1-4.
-- Jamestown also blew a 9th inning lead, losing to Mahoning Valley, 3-2. Buddy Borden made his first start, allowing a hit and no walks, and fanning four, in three scoreless innings. The Jammers took a 2-0 lead into the 9th, but Justin Topa gave up three runs, the last two on a walkoff HR. Harold Ramirez had his fourth HR in four ABs. Adam Frazier went 2-4, Jin-De Jhang had a triple in four ABs, and Wyatt Mathisen went 1-4.
-- The GCL Pirates beat the Tigers, 7-5. Austin Meadows went 1-4 with his fourth HR, Reese McGuire and Daniel Arribas each went 2-4, and Enyel Vallejo went 2-5 with a triple. Nick Buckner, who seems to be getting acclimated to pro ball, went 3-4. James McDonald had a much better rehab outing than his first one, facing six hitters and getting five groundouts and a strikeout. Neil Kozikowski followed, allowing three runs, one earned, in four innings. He gave up five hits and a walk, and struck out one.
-- The DSL Pirates2 routed the Reds, 12-2. Michael De La Cruz broke out of his slump, going 2-4 with a double and a walk. Carlos Munoz, Alexis Bastardo and Gustavo Barrios all went 2-3, Edgar Figueroa 2-4 and Ramy Perez 2-5. Jose Batista gave up two runs in five innings. He allowed five hits and a walk, and fanned five.
