Gamethread: Pirates promote Pimentel, demote Lambo and Hughes

The Pirates write that, to make room for Justin Morneau, the Pirates have optioned Andrew Lambo to Altoona (which will allow them to promote him again shortly, since Altoona isn't going to the playoffs). They have also promoted Stolmy Pimentel and optioned Jared Hughes to Altoona.

Pimentel will pitch out of the Pirates' bullpen. I'm not sure what the rationale is for promoting him now. He'll be eligible to pitch in the postseason as a result of the promotion. Perhaps the Pirates feel his stuff will play up enough for him to be valuable right away as a reliever.
