The Pirates have signed Dominican outfielder Jeremias Portorreal for $375,000, Ben Badler reports. Badler's report is about as good as we typically get about the signing of a 16-year-old who isn't Miguel Sano, so there's at least some information here. Portorreal is 6'2, he figures to be a corner outfielder or first baseman, and he might one day hit for power.
Portorreal's is the Pirates' second-biggest international signing of the season, after that of shortstop Adrian Valerio, who got $400,000.
UPDATE: Actually, Tim reported this first.
