The Pirates have recalled Kris Johnson to start in place of Jeff Locke in today's game, which begins at 1:35. They have also purchased the contract of Kyle Farnsworth and reinstated Travis Snider from the DL.
It's September 1, of course, which means the Pirates can add pretty much whoever they want. I wouldn't expect Farnsworth or Snider to actually play much. I certainly hope we don't be seeing Farnsworth pitching in any situation where the game might be remotely close to being on the line. Maybe if Snider's toe injury has healed, he can be effective down the stretch, but probably not, and I doubt he'll get much of a chance.
UPDATE: Justin Morneau will make his Pirates debut, playing first and batting sixth.
