Taillon, Irwin headed to Arizona Fall League

Jared Wickerham

P2 is reporting that Jameson Taillon and Phil Irwin have been added to the Pirates' AFL contingent.  That's especially good to hear about Irwin, who evidently is nearly ready to go following ulnar nerve transposition surgery on his right elbow.  Hopefully, he'll be an option at some point next season, since the Pirates seem to need to go about fifty deep in starting pitchers.

The rest of the AFL contingent, announced earlier, is Alen Hanson, Alex Dickerson, Gift Ngoepe, Tyler Waldron and Zack Thornton.

UPDATE:  P2 also has the Pirates' Fall Instructional League roster.  It's of interest primarily because it provides a good idea of which players will move up to the GCL from the DSL.  This one also lists Luis Urena as a pitcher.  And Tito Polo is on it.  I hope he makes it because . . . Tito Polo!
