In the only action on Thursday, Indianapolis lost, 6-5, to fall behind Durham, two games to none, in the International League playoffs. Starter Graham Godfrey failed to retire any of the four batters he faced before giving way to Brooks Brown, who allowed a fifth first-inning run. The bullpen allowed just one unearned run after that. James McDonald threw two scoreless innings, allowing no hits and two walks, while striking out one, but he only threw half of his 26 pitches for strikes. The Indians made it close in the end as Jerry Sands hit a two-run HR in the 7th and a three-run shot in the 9th. Ivan De Jesus, Jr., followed the second HR with a walk to put the tying run on board with no out, but the next three hitters fanned. Sands finished 3-4, as did Jared Goedert, who had two doubles. Gregory Polanco went 0-4.
