Pirates sign Blake Davis

Elsa

The Pirates have signed shortstop Blake Davis to a minor-league deal, Tim Dierkes reports. Davis played briefly for the Orioles in 2011, and spent last season with the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate in Nashville. He hasn't hit much, and he's 30, so he'll likely just play at Triple-A.

-P- In case anyone's curious, I wrote about the possibility of an extension for Jason Kipnis last night. I came to basically the same conclusion I came to with Neil Walker -- Kipnis is already under control for his prime years, and his team shouldn't be overly motivated to try to sign him beyond that.
