Arizona Fall League update: Tyler Glasnow turning heads

Justin K. Aller

Here's the latest from the Arizona Fall League:

-P- Josh Bell had at least one hit all of the five games he played this week, going 8-for-24 with four doubles. He's currently hitting .273/.314/.394 overall.

-P- Elias Diaz has played sparingly, collecting three hits in three games since Monday. He's batting .211/.286/.263 in 19 plate appearances for the season.

-P- After a hot start last week, Dan Gamache only got one hit (and three walks) this week. He's at .190/.333/.381.

-P- After a rough first start last week, Tyler Glasnow has been terrific in two subsequent starts, striking out six and walking two while allowing no runs in his last six innings. He has also impressed observers. Keith Law pointed out that pitchers are typically rusty when they arrive at the AFL, so we can probably dismiss Glasnow's first start. Not that it would have been any big deal regardless.

-P- Joely Rodriguez started on Tuesday and pitched three scoreless innings, striking out three and walking one.

-P- Adrian Sampson allowed two runs, including a home run, on Tuesday but pitched a scoreless inning yesterday.

-P- Tom Harlan allowed two unearned runs in a start Friday in which PITCH F/X wasn't sure if he was throwing fastballs or changeups. (The difference in speeds is actually pretty clear, but 86 MPH would be a changeup for some pitchers.)
