The Arizona Fall League begins today, giving us box scores to watch even though the Pirates' season is over. This year, Bucs prospects will play for the Scottsdale Scorpions, with Josh Bell, Tyler Glasnow, Adrian Sampson, Elias Diaz, Joely Rodriguez, Dan Gamache and Tom Harlan on the roster. The first five, especially, are worth watching. Diaz, in particular, could further improve his stock with a strong performance -- more and more, it's looking like he, and not Tony Sanchez, might end up as the Pirates' starting catcher here in a couple years.
The first two games of the season begin today at 2:35 Eastern, but the Scorpions play at 8:35, and it's a heck of a pitching matchup, with Glasnow taking on top Diamondbacks prospect Archie Bradley. MLB ranks Bradley the No. 9 prospect in baseball and Glasnow No. 16, so this is about as good as it gets. (One of the afternoon games features Taijuan Walker and Kyle Zimmer, which is pretty great too.)
