Florimon will be 28 in a few weeks. He's played in parts of four seasons with Baltimore and (mostly) Minnesota, putting up an anemic 204/266/300 line at the plate. He has a career .678 OPS in AA and .683 in AAA, so he isn't likely ever to hit. He appears to be a legitimate SS; in fact, he's hardly played anywhere else in the minors and never in the majors. He has no options left, so he can't serve as AAA depth unless he gets through waivers. At a guess, he's likely to compete in the spring to be Jordy Mercer's backup and a noodle bat off the bench.
In other news, Radhames Liz' winter league team has announced that he has indeed signed with the Pirates for two years and $3M.
