BA posts list of minor league free agents

Thirty-one Pirates hit the market.

Justin K. Aller

Baseball America has posted its list of players who've become minor league free agents.  Pirates on the list are:

RHP: John Axford (AAA), Jake Brigham (AAA), Emmanuel De Leon (AA), Jeanmar Gomez (AAA), Kenn Kasparek (AA), Josh Kinney (AAA), Kyle McPherson (AAA), Quinton Miller (AA), Wirfin Obispo (AAA), Josh Wall (AAA)

LHP: Rafael Perez (AAA), Jhonathan Ramos (AA), Adam Wilk (AAA)

C: Nevin Ashley (AAA), Francisco Diaz (Lo A), Ralph Henriquez (AA), Carlos Paulino (AA), Rudy Pena (AAA), Miguel Perez (Lo A), Omir Santos (AAA)

2B: Chase d’Arnaud (AAA), Blake Davis (AAA), Tommy Field (AAA)

3B: Jarek Cunningham (AA)

SS: Robert Andino (AAA), Dean Anna (AAA), Greg Picart (Hi A)

OF: Miles Durham (AA), Austin McClune (Hi A), Anthony Norman (AA), Andy Vasquez (AA)

Several of these guys (Durham, McClune, Norman, Pena, Perez, Picart) are really coaches.  For some technical reason, they continue to be listed as players.

The most interesting name not on the list is Matt Nevarez, who's sort of a lesser version of John Holdzkom:  a hard-throwing RHP signed late in the year out of independent ball whose career was hampered by injuries and control issues.  By my calculations he should be a free agent, although I was hoping the Pirates would re-sign him.  They may have done that, or I could just be wrong.

Time to uncover hidden value.
