Jung-Ho Kang's agent Alan Nero says the infielder is "very excited" about playing the majors, Jon Morosi tweets. More from Nero:
“He knows Pittsburgh had a good team last year and hopes he can help them to the playoffs and World Series.”
Nero added that Jung Ho Kang is “looking forward to visiting the city [of Pittsburgh] and meeting the fans.”
It certainly sounds like the Bucs are going to be able to take advantage of their exclusive negotiating window and sign Kang.
Incidentally, Raybin noted in the comments that the Pirates' bench next year could be Chris Stewart, Kang, Sean Rodriguez, Travis Snider and Corey Hart. Those players all come with questions or significant flaws or both, and I can't believe the Pirates aren't going to carry at least one glove-first shortstop type somehow, but that's still a very exciting bench, in contrast to the Brent Morel / Pedro Ciriaco benches the Pirates have carried at times in recent years.
