Pirates non-tender Gaby Sanchez, Chaz Roe, tender everyone else

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pirates have non-tendered Gaby Sanchez, as expected, and reliever Chaz Roe. The Bucs had already designated Sanchez for assignment, and now he's a free agent. Other than Sanchez, they've tendered all their arbitration-eligible players. That list includes Neil Walker, Pedro Alvarez, Mark Melancon, Josh Harrison, Sean Rodriguez, Francisco Cervelli, Chris Stewart, Travis Snider, Tony Watson, Jared Hughes and Vance Worley.

Roe wasn't even eligible for arbitration, but now he's off the 40-man, and Neal Huntington reportedly hopes the Pirates can re-sign him to a minor-league deal. The Bucs claimed him from the Yankees in September. Huntington says he "foresaw the need for a roster spot"; that could mean the Pirates might soon finalize the Radhames Liz signing, or something else.

Anyway, this was little ado about little. Not that I'm not generally awake at midnight anyway, but it's funny to have a midnight deadline just to make something like this official.
