The Pirates have outrighted Chase d'Arnaud to Indianapolis, meaning he's still with the organization after being designated for assignment. That's no surprise, given how little he's hit in the past several seasons, but it's still nice to have an extra shortstop option.
A few other notes:
-P- The Pirates tied the Rays 2-2 in 10 innings today. (Spring training, everybody!) Russell Martin hit a solo homer, and Wandy Rodriguez allowed a run but struck out two batters in one inning of work. Rodriguez getting through the day is probably the biggest news -- he could provide a boost to the Pirates' rotation if he's healthy to start the season. Jeanmar Gomez and Casey Sadler each pitched two scoreless innings. Minor-leaguer Taylor Lewis went 2-for-2 for the Pirates, which probably will earn him a ton of high fives when he gets back to Pirate City.
-P- MLB's new data system looks really cool. Be sure to check out the video.
-P- Miguel Sano will miss the entire season.
