Mets again shopping Ike Davis

Chris Trotman

The Mets are shopping Ike Davis again, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports. The problem is that Davis has a calf injury and has been sitting out of spring training games for two weeks. He has recently played in minor-league games (although the Mets haven't had him running after he hits), so he may be on his way back. Until he is, though, it will probably be pretty difficult for the Mets and Pirates to consummate a trade.

If healthy, Davis is probably the most obvious solution to the Pirates' issues at first base. He projects to be significantly better than Andrew Lambo (Steamer, ZiPS and Oliver all like Davis more), and just as importantly, he would give the Pirates depth. It's also likely the price for him would be reasonable.
