Jameson Taillon has elbow pain, Tim Williams reports. An MRI came up clean, but obviously, any elbow or shoulder injury is worrisome for a top prospect.
“They kept saying how big and strong the ligament is, and how there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it,” Taillon said. “Obviously with pitchers catching [Tommy John] this week like the cold, that was good to hear. We’ll just treat it, and see what happens.”
Taillon is not likely to be ready when Indianapolis' season starts here in a couple weeks. Let's hope he isn't out long.
Biertempfel also notes that Francisco Liriano (groin) is still supposed to start Opening Day, although the Pirates will not have him make a start before that. If Liriano isn't ready, Gerrit Cole will likely take his place.
