Pirates not interested in Juan Francisco

The Pirates are not interested in first baseman Juan Francisco, who the Brewers recently placed on release waivers, Ken Rosenthal tweets.

Francisco is a lefty, which would seem to make him a good fit for the Pirates' situation, but Francisco is bad defensively and strikes out constantly. There isn't much reason to think he would be better than Andrew Lambo, and unlike Lambo, Francisco has a pretty significant big-league track record that suggests he isn't very good. Like the Pirates, the Brewers were desperate for a first baseman; they let Francisco go so that they could play Mark Reynolds and Lyle Overbay. That should tell you most of what you need to know.
