The Pirates have announced that they've acquired pitcher Vance Worley from the Twins for cash. The Twins outrighted Worley last week after he pitched poorly last year.
This looks like mostly a depth addition to offset Jameson Taillon's injury, but Worley pitched reasonably well for two years in Philadelphia before falling apart last season with the Twins. It wouldn't be a shock if the Pirates helped him return to form, at least to a degree, in which case we could see him in Pittsburgh at some point. Right now, though, he's a project -- if anyone thought he could help a big-league pitching staff right now, a team likely would have claimed him when he was available last week.
