Pirates reinstate Jeff Locke, add him to Triple-A roster

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Pirates have reinstated Jeff Locke from the disabled list and have sent him to Indianapolis. Locke, who had an oblique injury, pitched well in a rehab start for Bradenton on Wednesday, striking out 10 batters in six innings. He'll likely be the first pitcher on the plane if something goes wrong with anyone in the rotation, so it's good to know he's healthy and ready to go.

Actually, it will be interesting to see how Locke does in Triple-A. He was one of the better pitchers at that level in 2012, and he's coming off a respectable big-league season. Not many teams have Triple-A depth as good as Jeff Locke.
