Pirates MiLB recap: 5/6/14

Vance Worley had a strong start in his first outing for the Pirates, while Wandy Rodriguez got hammered again in a rehab start. West Virginia was off.

-- Indianapolis dropped a 2-1 decision to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.  Worley (pictured) allowed one run on five hits in six innings.  He walked none and fanned four.  Josh Kinney fanned five in two innings of relief.  The Indians managed just four hits and struck out 14 times.  Gregory Polanco went 1-4.  Andrew Lambo didn't play again, so apparently he has some minor injury.

UPDATE:  P2 is reporting that Lambo has a bruised right thumb.

-- Altoona lost to Bowie, 11-7.  Rodriguez blew up in the 4th inning, giving up seven runs, all he allowed in the game.  Overall, he went five and a third and gave up seven hits, including two HRs, and three walks.  He struck out four.  Alen Hanson went 0-4 with two strikeouts and Stetson Allie 1-4 with three strikeouts.  Andy Vasquez entered the game halfway through and had a double and his third HR in two ABs.  Mel Rojas and Keon Broxton each went 2-4 with a double.  Gift Ngoepe went 1-5 with a triple and two strikeouts.

-- Bradenton lost to Fort Myers, 4-0.  Chad Kuhl gave up the four runs in six innings.  Adam Frazier went 3-4 with a double.  Josh Bell went 1-3.
