Pirates agree to terms with fourth-rounder Taylor Gushue

Rich Schultz

The Pirates have agreed to terms with fourth-round pick Taylor Gushue for $388,800, Jim Callis tweets. That's exactly the bonus pool value for that pick.

Gushue is a junior catcher out of the University of Florida, but he's young at 20, having graduated from high school a semester early so that he could enroll in college. He's a switch hitter who doesn't get the highest marks for his hitting but could end up with average power. His defense is reasonably well regarded, although he's a little inexperienced behind the plate, having played mostly first base in 2012 while Mike Zunino was catching.

The Pirates also agreed to terms with 22nd-rounder Eric Karch, a senior pitcher out of Pepperdine. (The Bucs have reached deals with three players named Eric or Erik; apparently "Eric" is the new "Zach.") Here's the list of players who have reportedly agreed to terms so far.

2. Mitch Keller
