Pirates MiLB recap: 6/12/14

Josh Bell and Tyler Glasnow dominated as Bradenton won two, AJ Morris threw a complete game shutout, and Adrian Valerio had four hits. Altoona and West Virginia were washed out.

-- Indianapolis jumped on a rehabbing Jeremy Hellickson early and cruised to a 4-0 win over Durham.  Nine-inning complete games are rare in the minors, but Morris needed only 97 pitches to do it in just his second AAA game.  He allowed six hits and a walk, and fanned seven.  Chris Dickerson and Matt Hague each went 2-3.  Hague had a double and three RBIs.  Tony Sanchez left the game with a head injury.

-- Bell (pictured) hit a two-run, walkoff single to give Bradenton a 6-5 win in the completion of its suspended game with Palm Beach.  Bell finished 3-4 with his eighth HR and three RBIs.  Eight other Marauders contributed one hit apiece.  Jason Creasy gave up three runs in four innings yesterday before the rains came.  Thomas Harlan picked up today with four innings, allowing two unearned runs.  Jeff Inman got the win after pitching a scoreless 9th.

The Marauders won the seven-inning, regularly scheduled game, 2-0.  Glasnow went five innings, giving up three hits and two walks, and fanning seven.  Bell scored both runs, going 2-3 with a double and his ninth HR.  Max Moroff also went 2-3.  Polanco Bell is hitting 421/488/816 in his last ten games.

-- The DSL Pirates pounded out 19 hits in a 16-14 win over the Astros Orange (beats Astros1, I guess).  Valerio went 4-6 with two doubles.  Sandy Santos was 3-6 with a double.  Victor Fernandez was 2-6 with a triple and his second HR.  Edison Lantigua was 2-5 with a triple, Raul Siri 2-5 with two doubles, Felix Vinicio 2-4 with a triple and Yunelky Adames 2-6 with a triple.  The pitching left something to be desired.
