Pirates sign five more draft picks

According to their transactions page, the Pirates have signed five more draft picks: OF Carl Anderson (19th round, Bryant University, junior), LHP John Sever (20th, Bethune-Cookman, junior), RHP Jess Amedee (27th, Texas-Arlington, junior), RHP Luis Paula (31st, UNC, junior) and RHP Montana DuRapau (32nd, Bethune-Cookman, senior).

None of these guys are highly rated, which probably is no surprise, given their draft positions. But it's encouraging that so many of them are juniors. BA has mentioned Paula as a prospect, and he's from a big program, so he probably bears watching.

By my count, the Pirates have now come to terms with 20 of their 42 draft picks.

UPDATE: Make that 21. The Pirates have also agreed to terms with 13th-rounder Frank Duncan, a senior righty from Kansas.
