Vance Worley to start Sunday

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

This news came out earlier, but I'm catching up after spending the day on MLBTR duty, so forgive me. Vance Worley is now listed as the Pirates' starter for tomorrow.

There is, of course, a bit of hand-wringing to do here about how long the Pirates are supposed to survive with a rotation headed by Charlie Morton and also featuring Edinson Volquez, Jeff Locke, Brandon Cumpton and Vance Worley. But it's also nice to see Worley work his way back to the big leagues. After posting a 7.21 ERA with the Twins last year, Worley looked like a pure depth addition. But he earned his way back by walking just four batters in 46 innings at Triple-A this year. Worley was solid as a member of the Phillies' rotation in 2011 and 2012, and he's only 26, so it's not completely ridiculous to hope that the Pirates might have something here.
