Reese McGuire, Erich Weiss make South Atlantic League All-Star Game

USA TODAY Sports

Catcher Reese McGuire and infielder Erich Weiss have made the South Atlantic League All-Star Game, which will take place June 17 in Hickory.

McGuire hasn't hit a ton for West Virginia, at only .283/.342/.324. That certainly isn't a red flag, since McGuire is only 19, but he probably got to the All-Star Game in part because of his defense. Well, that and the fact that the Sally League only has 14 teams, and their All-Star rosters will include six catchers.

Weiss, the Pirates' 11th round pick out of the University of Texas last year, has hit well as the Power's second baseman, with a line of .323/.417/.421. He'll be 23 in September.
