MLB mock draft has Pirates picking Tyler Beede, Matt Imhof

USA TODAY Sports

Chris Crawford's new mock has the Pirates taking Vanderbilt righty Tyler Beede at No. 24, then grabbing Cal Poly lefty Matt Imhof at No. 39.

Given the number of interesting pitchers in this draft, it's easy to see the Pirates taking two arms with their first two picks. Beede was a first-round pick in 2011 (by the Blue Jays, who didn't sign him), and after he struck out 14 batters against Xavier on Friday, it looks likely he'll be one again. His delivery isn't always consistent and he's issued a few too many walks last year, but he has very good stuff. Imhof is a 6-foot-5 lefty who has a quality fastball but questionable secondary pitches. Baseball America also writes that his stuff isn't good enough to be an ace.
