Pirates MiLB recap: 6/7/14

An all-around bad day in Pittsburgh wasn't much better in the farm system, with rain cutting short about the only positive development.

-- Indianapolis could do nothing with former Pirate Brad Lincon and lost to Lehigh Valley, 3-1.  Lincoln isn't actually pitching all that well in AAA, but he one-hit the Indians over six innings.  A.J. Morris made his first AAA start and pitched well after a difficult 1st inning.  He finished with three runs allowed, two earned, on six hits and three walks in six innings.  Morris fanned five.  Indianapolis had just three hits total.  Mel Rojas scored the only run after hitting a triple.  Gregory Polanco was 0-4.

-- Altoona lost to Trenton, 4-1.  Nick Kingham gave up all the runs, one of them unearned, in seven innings.  He allowed eight hits, walked none and fanned six.  The Curve had eight hits and four walks, but went 0-9 with runners in scoring position.  Alen Hanson was 2-2 with two walks, and Elias Diaz 2-4.  Stetson Allie went 1-4.

-- Bradenton's game with Brevard County was suspended after four innings with the score tied, 1-1.  Tyler Glasnow faced 13 hitters and fanned seven of them.  The only one who didn't make an out drilled a solo HR.  Josh Bell drove in the Marauders' run with a 1st inning single.

-- West Virginia dropped to 20-41 with an 8-7 loss to Hickory.  The Power had tied the game in the top of the 9th on a two-out single by Candon Myles, but Yhonathan Barrios gave up a two-out, RBI double to take the loss.  Cody Dickson had another bad start, giving up five runs on four hits and five walks in four and a third innings.  He struck out four.  Much of the Power's offense again came courtesy of Daniel Bard, who walked four and hit one in two-thirds of an inning and now sports an ERA of 94.50.  Edwin Espinal (pictured) was 4-5 with three RBIs.  Reese McGuire got his first hit in five games, going 1-3 with a double and two walks.  Myles was 2-4.

-- As usual, MiLB.com has no report yet on the DSL Pirates' game.
