Links: Pirates promote Josh Bell, release Duke Welker

Hannah Foslien

-P- In case you missed it last night, Josh Bell has been promoted to Altoona. It was a great run at Bradenton for Bell, with a .335/.384/.502. With Starling Marte, Andrew McCutchen and Gregory Polanco set in the outfield, Bell is probably the Pirates' first baseman of the future, perhaps starting in 2016.

-P- The Pirates have released Duke Welker, who they designated for assignment when they added Matt Hague to the 40-man. Welker has seemingly been a relief prospect forever, but now he's 28, and he didn't pitch well for Indianapolis this year, then had Tommy John surgery.

And now the self-promotion portion of this post:

-P- I wrote a lot of stuff for MLBTR over the weekend, including this long piece on the corner outfield trade market.

-P- I did a bunch of interviews yesterday. Here's one with Mark Madden, here's one with my boy David Todd (which begins at around 22:00), and here's one with Ken Laird and Guy Junker (it begins at around 27:30, although be sure to catch the Tim Dierkes interview before that). There's a little bit of repetition among the three interviews, but they're all good segments, I think.
