-- Indianapolis stomped Columbus, 9-2. Lambo (pictured), whose agent might want to try sending the Pirates' front office a link to his stats page, went 3-4 with his eighth HR and a walk. Jose Tabata was 2-4 with a double and a walk. Clint Barmes played the whole game at short and went 2-4 with a walk. Unfortunately, for the Pirates to bring him up, they'd have to risk losing Jayson Nix on waivers, which could jeopardize the team's future. Casey Sadler had one of his few good starts of the second half, allowing one run on six hits and no walks in seven innings. He fanned seven. Ernesto Frieri allowed a solo HR in his one inning.
-- Altoona lost to New Britain, 6-1. Zack Dodson gave up three runs over six innings. Stolmy Pimentel's second rehab outing didn't go well. He retired only one batter while giving up a hit and walking three. He threw only 11 of 25 pitches for strikes. Pimentel was charged with three runs, one earned. No word yet on whether he's been released. The Curve, who appear likely to be without Alen Hanson and Josh Bell the rest of the way, had only four hits.
-- Glasnow gave up four (!!) runs, but Bradenton still beat Palm Beach, 8-5. The four runs came on three hits and two walks over five innings. Glasnow gave up just his second HR of the year and struck out eight. Three relievers fanned another seven, for 15 against a good team. Adam Frazier went 3-4, Justin Maffei 2-4 with a triple, and Jin-De Jhang 2-2 with three RBIs. Jose Osuna hit his tenth HR.
-- West Virginia edged Kannapolis, 5-4. Luis Heredia allowed four runs in six innings on five hits, two of which left the park. He walked none and fanned six, which is good news as his walk and K rates have both been problems. Zack Von Rosenberg fanned four in two perfect innings. Jeff Roy was 2-3 with a triple, Chris Diaz 2-4 with a double, and Wyatt Mathisen 2-4. Austin Meadows went 1-2 with a double and a walk, and Reese McGuire 1-4.
-- Jamestown lost to State College, 7-3. Starter Austin Coley lasted only an inning, giving up two runs on two hits and two walks. Chase Simpson was 2-3 with a double and Francisco Aponte 2-4 with a double.
-- Bristol beat Burlington, 9-4. Jose Salazar was 3-5 and Nick Buckner, Tomas Morales and Enyel Vallejo were all 2-4 with a double. Buckner drove in three runs. Carlos Ozuna was 2-5. Hector Garcia, who may be the closest thing to a prospect on this team, allowed one run on just one hit and two walks in five innings. He fanned six.
-- The GCL Pirates beat the Yankees1, 6-4. Mitch Keller had some control problems, leading to three runs in three and two thirds innings. He gave up three hits and four walks, and also hit a batter and threw two wild pitches. He struck out three. Tito Polo! went 2-4 with a double and Alexis Bastardo 2-3. Cole Tucker was 0-4 with a walk. A little more on this game in the comments.
