The Pirates are interested in re-signing Sean Rodriguez, Travis Sawchik tweets.

This is the point in the article where I, the blogger, am supposed to remind you that Sean Rodriguez can't hit his way out of a paper bag. But as bench players go, the guy does have his virtues. He can play first base competently, an attribute you notice when your regular first baseman can't. He can also handle second, third and either corner outfield position without missing a beat.

And there's more! If you've got a cooler in the dugout that needs dented, Sean Rodriguez can take care of that for you. And if the Pirates want him back, there are probably chemistry-related reasons for that too. Chemistry is mysterious, but it's real, and if the Bucs have decided that Rodriguez helps in that area, I'm not going to argue much, especially when his on-field role mainly involves playing a bunch of defensive positions and playing them fairly well. He isn't who I'd target, but I'm not in the clubhouse every day.
