A conversation with Jim Benedict

Jim Benedict has been with the Pirates since 2008. He currently holds the title Assistant to the General Manager, but he is better known as the Bucs' pitching guru. Ray Searage, the Pirates' major league pitching coach, is more visible to the fanbase, but he and Jim work in tandem and the results speak for themselves.

Jim was a guest on my show yesterday. We had a chance to speak about the offseason program and then got into specifics. You can hear how Charlie Morton and Jameson Taillon are coming along from their injuries, what the Pirates saw in John Holdzkom and Bobby LaFromboise last year, what Jim thinks of some of the new arms the team acquired in the offseason (including Radhames Liz, Arquimedes Caminero and Clayton Richard) and what's ahead for holdover Stolmy Pimentel.
