New, 16 comments

-- Indianapolis began the post-Romero era with a 10-5 drubbing of Buffalo.  Gorkys Hernandez highlighted the offense with a grand slam, his third HR.  Gustavo Nunez, Steve Lombardozzi and Brent Morel each had two hits.  Tony Sanchez and Alen Hanson were each 1-4 and Elias Diaz 0-4.  Casey Sadler allowed only five hits and a walk in seven innings, but they produced four runs.  He fanned five.

-- Altoona lost to New Britain, 6-4.  The Curve took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 7th, but Jhondaniel Medina gave up three runs in the bottom half, with two errors playing a role.  Starter Zack Dodson allowed three runs in six innings on eight hits.  He walked two and struck out two.  Max Moroff went 3-5, raising his average to .321.  Josh Bell was 2-4 with a double, Willy Garcia 2-4 and Jacob Stallings 3-3.  Keon Broxton hit his third HR.

-- Bradenton lost to Daytona, 8-4.  Jayson Aquino got pummeled in his third Pirates start, giving up seven runs on nine hits in five plus innings.  He walked one and struck out two.  Much of the damage came in the 6th, when Aquino faced five hitters and failed to retire any.  All five ended up scoring.  The Marauders had a lot of scoring chances, with a dozen hits and five walks, but they went 1-12 with RISP.  Erich Weiss (pictured) was 3-4, JaCoby Jones 2-3, Austin Meadows and Jin-De Jhang each 2-4 and Barrett Barnes 2-5.  Jhang and Barnes each had doubles.  Harold Ramirez went 1-4 with a walk in his high A debut.  Reese McGuire was 0-4.

-- West Virginia outlasted Lakewood, 5-3, in fourteen innings.  Jordan Luplow led off the top of the 14th with his second HR, then the Power got two more runs without benefit of a hit.  The Power had only six singles apart from Luplow's HR.  Cole Tucker was 1-7 and Connor Joe 1-6.  Michael Suchy and Jerrick Suiter each had two hits.  Starter Alex McRae threw six shutout innings.  He gave up three hits, walked none and fanned six.  Junior Lopez threw three scoreless innings to get the win.
