Matt Morris Report: Good start for Sampson

-- Adrian Sampson gave up one run in six and two-thirds innings as Indianapolis beat Buffalo, 3-1.  Sampson allowed seven hits and a walk, and fanned eight.  Deolis Guerra and Blake Wood retired the last seven batters in order.  Wood fanned two in the 9th in picking up his 14th save.  The Indians had only four hits.  Alen Hanson was 0-4 and Tony Sanchez 1-3.

-- Altoona hammered New Britain and former Bucs' minor leaguer Shane Carle, 8-2.  Chad Kuhl gave up two runs in six and a third innings on five hits and two walks.  He struck out five.  Eric Wood (pictured) was 3-3 with a triple, Sebastian Valle 3-4 with a double and Jose Osuna 3-5 with a double.  Max Moroff and Josh Bell each went 0-3.

-- Bradenton lost a 7-6 game to St. Lucie.  Edwin Espinal was 2-4 with two doubles and Harold Ramirez 2-4 with a double.  Austin Meadows was 1-3 with two walks and Reese McGuire 1-4.  Cody Dickson had a rough outing, allowing seven runs in four and a  third innings.

-- West Virginia lost to Greensboro, 6-2.  Austin Coley gave up three runs in six innings on seven hits and a walk.  He struck out six.  Taylor Gushue and Michael Suchy each went 2-5, Gushue with a double.  Connor Joe was 1-4 with a double and Cole Tucker 0-4.

-- The DSL Pirates edged the Mets2, 7-6.  Huascar Fuentes went 2-4 with a double and his first HR.  Mikell Granberry was 1-3 with a triple and Yondry Contreras 0-4 with three strikeouts.
