I was out most of the day yesterday and this morning, so here are a few brief notes:
-P- The Pirates announced that they traded minor league pitcher Jayson Aquino to the Indians for cash considerations. The Bucs had designated Aquino for assignment last week, and he probably is worth a spot on a 40-man roster somewhere, so it's no surprise that he had to head elsewhere.
-P- The Cardinals acquired Brandon Moss from the Indians for pitching prospect Rob Kaminsky. Moss was in the midst of a subpar season in Cleveland, but his previous performances in Oakland suggest he can help the Cardinals, who continue dealing with injuries, at first base and also now in the outfield. Matt Adams has been hurt for awhile, and the Cardinals also recently lost Matt Holliday to a quad injury. The deal likely takes the Cards out of the running for the Brewers' Adam Lind.
-P- More importantly, the Cardinals agreed to a new TV contract worth more than $1 billion that starts in 2018. That deal should allow them to spend more heavily in the future, potentially making them even more annoying.
