Andrew McCutchen wins NL Player of the Week

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Andrew McCutchen has won the NL Player of the Week award.

The Pirates have gone 4-1 in that span, and McCutchen has been in the middle of all of those four wins. He had a solo homer and scored and drove in two runs in a 7-5 win on Wednesday. On Friday, he was the catalyst of a two-run fifth inning that gave the Bucs a lead against Clayton Kershaw. On Saturday, he went 3-for-3 with a walk and a double. And yesterday, he hit a two-run homer in the fifth and hit a two-run single in the Pirates' million-run seventh.

For the season, McCutchen is now hitting .311/.398/.513. After a slow start, it's been a standard McCutchen season, and when you're this good, Player of the Week awards will happen. This is the sixth time in his career he's received one.
