Light action today, with Altoona, Bradenton and Bristol off, and the GCL Pirates rained out.
-- Radhames Liz had a 4th-inning control meltdown, leading to a 4-3 Indianapolis loss to Durham. Three walks, a hit batsman, an error and a groundball single led to three runs. Liz allowed four runs overall in six innings, just two of them earned, on only two hits. He walked four, plunked two and struck out six. Willy Garcia (pictured) homered for the third straight day, his fifth longball in AAA. Tony Sanchez was 2-3 with a double, and Keon Broxton and John Bowker each 2-4. Alen Hanson went 1-5 and Josh Bell 0-4.
-- The West Virginia Power beat Greeneville, 5-1. Austin Coley went seven innings, allowing one run, five hits and a walk. He struck out five. Tyler Filliben went 2-3, and Tito Polo, Jordan Luplow and Jerrick Suiter all went 2-4. Luplow and Suiter had doubles. Cole Tucker remains sidelined with a sore shoulder.
-- Morgantown beat Auburn, 6-3. Kevin Kramer went 3-3 with two walks and Mitchell Tolman 2-3. Daniel Arribas and Casey Hughston each went 2-4 with a double. Hughston finally climbed over the Mendoza Line; since his nightmarish 1-43 start he's hitting .310. Kevin Newman was 1-5. Starter Juan Paula gave up three runs in the 2nd inning, but settled down to go five, allowing four hits and no walks overall, with five strikeouts.
-- As usual, no result was available for the DSL Pirates, which is just as well the way they're playing.
