-- For the second day in a row, Indianapolis nearly blew a 6-2 9th inning lead against Norfolk, only to hang on for a 6-5 win. After nearly losing the lead yesterday, Blake Wood had to get the last out today to rescue Josh Wall, although not before he let two inherited runners score. Early in the season, Wood looked like a candidate for a callup, but he hasn't pitched especially well since about mid-May. Radhames Liz got the win, giving up just an unearned run over six innings. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out six. He wasn't especially efficient, throwing 99 pitches, but 69 were strikes. Willy Garcia hit his sixth AAA HR, although he also fanned three times. John Bowker hit his fourth HR and went 2-4. Dan Gamache was 2-4 with a double. Alen Hanson was out of the lineup for the second straight day. Josh Bell went 1-4.

-- Austin Meadows homered for the second straight day and went 3-4 as Bradenton got by Charlotte, 2-1. Meadows' longball was his seventh. Reese McGuire was 1-3 and Harold Ramirez 0-4. -- The GCL Pirates beat the Yankees1, 3-2, in what was supposed to be the first game of a doubleheader. The second game was rained out. The Pirates won the game in walkoff fashion in the 7th when Victor Fernandez doubled, Michael De La Cruz bunted him to third and the catcher threw the ball away. Fernandez, Adrian Valerio and Edison Lantigua all went 2-3 with a double. Ke'Bryan Hayes and Jhoan Herrera also went 2-3. Nick Economos started and lasted four and a third innings, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk. He fanned five. Stephan Meyer struck out two in a scoreless top of the 7th to get the win.
