I had a chance to chat with both Steven Brault and Jesse Biddle on my show on ESPN Pittsburgh this week and I came away incredibly impressed with both young men. Honestly they were two of my favorite player interviews ever.
Steven was acquired, along with Stephen Tarpley, in the Travis Snider trade just over a year ago. He started last season in Bradenton and then spent the second half of the year at AA Altoona. He is slated to pitch in the Pirates intrasquad game on Monday and expected to be in the Altoona rotation to start the season. Conversation with Steven (13 minutes).
Jesse was acquired earlier this month for Yoervis Medina after being designated for assignment by the Phillies, who drafted him in the first round in 2010. A Philadelphia native, Jesse had Tommy John surgery in October and, on March 7, will throw for the first time since the surgery. Conversation with Jesse (15 minutes).
I also spoke with Dave Schoenfield, editor of the Sweet Spot blog on ESPN.com, discussing a wide variety of topics including the new rule changes, the Dexter Fowler signing, this article from Baseball Prospectus and much more. Conversation with Dave (16 minutes).
