Gamethread: Pirates face Jays

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Pirates head to Dunedin to take on the Blue Jays at 1:07 PM (not 1:05; must be a Canadian thing).  A.J. Schugel will start for the Bucs; according to the team's web site, Ryan Vogelsong will start in a minor league game instead.  Toronto will send out former Brewers Pirate-killer Marco Estrada.  Schugel will be followed by a bunch of guys battling for relief roles of one sort or another:  Arquimedes Caminero, Rob Scahill, Cory Luebke, Curtis Partch and Guido Knudson.  Mark Melancon and Tony Watson are expected to pitch against minor leaguers at Pirate City.

Jon Niese, who was scheduled to start Saturday's rainout, threw in the batting cages instead, as did Eric O'Flaherty.  Personally, I think O'Flaherty will probably get the last open bullpen spot, although his spring numbers aren't great.  Of course, "last open spot" assumes that Caminero and Jared Hughes aren't pitching themselves out of their spots with bad springs.
