This afternoon's series finale between the Pirates and Rockies has been postponed, Stephen J. Nesbitt and others have tweeted.
The weather in Denver is currently listed as 38 degrees with increasing chances of precipitation before game time, so ... not very good weather for baseball. The Pirates seemed to be on a roll, having won their last four straight and six of their last seven, but today's postponement actually seems like good news -- series in Coors Field are always taxing, and the Bucs had been scheduled to face the Reds in Pittsburgh tomorrow after having their bullpen pitch seven innings in last night's epic 12-inning game. This way, they'll get on the road a bit earlier and they'll get the day off, and they'll hopefully be recharged when they return to PNC Park tomorrow.
No makeup game has yet been announced, although the next time the Pirates will be as far west as Denver will be at the end of June.
