Cannonballs coming: Taillon throws six shutout innings

New, 22 comments

-- Jameson Taillon had another excellent start, throwing six shutout innings in Indianapolis' (20-19) 4-2 win over Columbus.  Taillon gave up five singles, walked none and fanned eight.  He threw 60 of 91 pitches for strikes.  Somehow, it's hard to believe that he couldn't hold the Braves under six runs.  After Taillon walked none over six innings, the bullpen walked five in three innings, but managed to allow only two runs.  Josh Bell was 2-3 with a walk and Jacob Stallings (pictured) 2-3 with his first AAA HR.  Others:

-- Altoona (22-18) lost to Binghamton, 5-4.  Tyler Eppler gave up two runs on five hits in six innings.  He struck out three and didn't walk anybody.  Eppler left with a 3-2 lead, but Jhondaniel Medina quickly gave up three runs, with the tying run scoring on a bases-loaded walk.  The Curve got the tying run to third with one out in the ninth, but Austin Meadows and Jose Osuna both struck out.  Anderson Feliz hit his first homerun of the year.  Others:

-- Bradenton's game at Brevard County was suspended with one out in the bottom of the ninth and the score tied, 1-1.  The Marauders had only three hits, with their run coming on Kevin Newman's second HR.  Alex McRae threw six shutout innings, giving up four hits and no walks, and striking out three.  Others:

Newman:  1-4, HR
Kevin Kramer:  0-3, BB
Jordan Luplow:  1-3, 2B
Connor Joe:  0-2

-- West Virginia (20-19) beat Hickory, 7-6.  Dario Agrazal went seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk, with three strikeouts.  Daniel Zamora, who'd been having a very good year, gave up four runs in two-thirds of an inning.  Mitchell Tolman went 3-5 and Ryan Nagle had a two-run triple.  Others:
