Just a few notes to distract from the overmatched Pirates' struggles against the Cubs:
-- Elias Diaz' elbow surgery was needed to clean up the joint. He's expected to be out 7-9 weeks, which would make him available again probably in July.
-- Pirates Prospects is reporting (sub. req'd) that Cole Tucker expects to finish his rehab from labrum surgery this week and join the West Virginia Power next week.
-- Tate Scioneaux has filled Brandon Waddell's spot on the Bradenton roster. Scioneaux has been impressive in relief for West Virginia, allowing just five hits and five walks in 16 innings, while striking out 24. That works out to an opponents' average of .094 and WHIP of 0.63. Jose Regalado, who's been a reliever most of the time in his career, is scheduled to start for the Marauders today, taking Waddell's spot in the rotation. Waddell is scheduled to make his first AA start today for Altoona.
